Air Conditioner Cost Calculator
Calculate how much your air conditioner costs to run per hour, day, and month based on BTU and SEER rating.
How It Works
Enter your AC's BTU capacity, SEER efficiency rating, daily hours of operation, and electricity rate. The calculator converts BTU and SEER to wattage and computes running costs.
Formula
Watts = BTU / SEER | Monthly Cost = (Watts/1000) x Hours/Day x 30 x Rate
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a SEER rating?
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures AC efficiency. Higher SEER = less electricity for same cooling. Minimum SEER in the US is 14-15. Modern efficient units are 18-25+ SEER.
What size AC do I need?
A rough rule: 20 BTU per square foot. A 500 sq ft room needs ~10,000 BTU. Add 10% for sunny rooms, subtract 10% for heavily shaded rooms.
