Appliance Energy Calculator
Calculate how much electricity any appliance uses: watts times hours equals kWh per day and month.
How It Works
Enter the appliance wattage (found on the label or manual), hours used per day, and your electricity rate. The calculator shows daily kWh, monthly kWh, and monthly running cost.
Formula
kWh = (Watts x Hours per Day) / 1000 | Monthly Cost = kWh x 30 x Rate
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find the wattage?
Check the label on the back or bottom of the appliance, the product manual, or search the model number online. You can also use a plug-in watt meter for accurate measurement.
What is standby power?
Most electronics draw 0.5-5W even when off (standby power). A TV on standby uses about 1-3W, adding $1-5/year. Smart plugs can eliminate standby draw.
